From 1997 to 2003, CJPF had a police policy project focusing on community oriented policing.

In 1997, Nicholas Pastore, the nationally renowned Chief of Police of New Haven, Connecticut, retired. CJPF contracted with Chief Pastore to promote community oriented policing, and to assist us in studying police problems.

The materials on this page relate to that project.

Community oriented policing has been supported by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Police Executive Research Forum, and the Police Foundation.
